Production scanning is all about volume. Serious volume. Paper-heavy industries where record-keeping and document security are priorities require serious technology, too. And while production scanner speeds continue to increase, the average production scanner still sits idle up to 50% of the day awaiting user input for the next scan job. With higher and higher production speeds also comes higher and higher hardware acquisition costs, not to mention service and maintenance downtime, and additional burden on the system, as high-speed scan processing can be taxing on the user workstation.
